Jamaica Entertainment Lineup for Caribbean Marketplace 2010

The Caribbean Marketplace will be held from January 16-18, 2011 at the newly constructed Montego Bay Convention Centre, and going by the impressive lineup of top quality entertainment, it seems that the country is all set to outshine the event which it last hosted in 2005.

The opening night entertainment on Sunday, January 16, will see stellar performances from top entertainers across the island including Montego Bay based female vocalist Karen Smith, DePass Jazz Trio, comprising Kingsley DePass (violin), Stephen DePass (electric bass) and Jermaine Webb (keyboards) and the Jolly Boys, a mento band from Port Antonio, which has attracted attention worldwide. The ceremony will also feature the Jamaica Military Band.

A Jamaica Night party is expected to bring the curtains down on Caribbean Marketplace on Tuesday, January 18. The closing ceremony will feature performances by Reggae singer/songwriter Etana, Tarrus Riley and his Black Soil band, celebrity DJ Bambino of ZIP FM and renowned ska, calypso and soca band, Byron Lee’s Dragonaires. In fact, this band had played a pioneering role in introducing the world to the eclectic and invigorating rhythms of Caribbean music, and was also instrumental in introducing carnival to Jamaica.

The events are scheduled to be held in Montego Bay, the second largest town on the island. Guests of Silver Sands Villas, and other cottages and villas in Jamaica can avail of the transport facilities offered by the Jamaican rental community, if they wish to enjoy the performances.
