Jamaica Vacations Okay

The Jamaican capital of Kingston became a battlefield following an order by the government for the arrest of a reputed drug and weapons trafficker. As a result, the USA and UK issued travel advisories to their citizens, recommending avoiding travel to the country. However, most tourist towns of Jamaica remained far removed from the recent conflict.

The violence has only affected Kingston and St. Andrew, which are not popular tourist destinations. Some international carriers such as American Airlines have canceled and rescheduled certain flights to and from Kingston. 
 
However, according to the Jamaica Tourist Board, though the Jamaican government implemented a state of emergency in Kingston and St. Andrew, the most popular tourist towns such as Ocho Rios, Negril and Montego Bay remained unaffected and continued to attract vacationers. Silver Sands villas, located on the North Coast has not had any cancellations. In fact, Samuel Logan, regional manager for the Americas at iJet, a risk assessment firm said: "If you're going to Montego Bay or Negril, you're fine."
