Jamaica Is The First Country To Showcase Destination In 3D

Jamaica became the first country in the world to showcase the island as a tourism destination in 3D format. The film was showcased during the 2010 World Travel Market (WTM) being held in London from November 7 to 10 at ExCel exhibition centre.

The 3D showcase is the brainchild of the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) and Exposure4, a UK-based production company. The message in the film is to invite repeat and potential visitors to see the country in a "whole new dimension."

Speaking at the launch, Jamaica tourism minister Edmund Bartlett said: "We have rolled out a cutting edge technology here. We are talking about Jamaica as a first. We are the first nation in the world to use this cutting edge technology for our commercials. It tells you where we are. We are telling you it is not thinking out of the box, not even around the box. It is throwing away the box. We are saying just go and think and be creative because tourism is about innovation. It is innovation that brings more people to us to experience new and different things.” He also added that the 3D film was part of new technologies, on of four branches on which Jamaica’s future will be build.

Bartlett was also optimistic that this year’s WTM at the Excel Centre in London would serve as the perfect platform to attract tourists from these new markets to Jamaica.

“We are hoping to get into double digits…There are a number of people who we are going to be meeting with while we are here and we’ll be talking about investment possibilities in serious product areas.” said Bartlett.

He also said that Jamaica is seeing the emerging markets in Brazil, India, China and Russia as beneficial to Jamaica in that they could attract visitors from these countries.

Jamaica is all set to welcome its visitors who will start landing on its shores when the High Season begins on 16 December. Jamaica rentals comprising private Jamaica villas, cottages and apartments are high in demand and so if you wish to stay in your private space, browse through our Silver Sands Jamaica listings and book your perfect Jamaica accommodation while there is still time.
