As usual, we enjoyed our visit to Silver Sands. We have been coming for many years and each house we stay in makes us feel welcome and that we have come "home".
Since Derick was born in Jamaica, he enjoys introducing his beautiful country to our friends and family. This time we were fortunate enough to spend two wonderful weeks at Tu Mac. The staff there soon became "family" and went out of their way to show everyone the true Jamaica.
Constance was the "mom" who looked after us and cooked all of Derick's requests, taking extra care to make sure each meal was perfect. Everyone especially loved her gazzada cakes and coconut candy. Yum! What a special treat from a special lady. She even baked me a wonderful birthday cake as everyone helped me celebrate my birthday while we were there.
Franceen took care of our every need as far as the house was concerned. She kept the house spotless, washed our laundry and squeezed gallons of fresh orange juice, which we drank with gusto. And she did everything with a beautiful smile on her face.
Last, but not least was Garfield, who put on a show for us, opening coconuts and peeling sugar cane. He is a delight and a hard worker.
Of course, from the vantage point of Tu Mac's verandah, the view is spectacular as the dazzling Caribbean Sea changes colors as the Sun moves. We spent some time each day enjoying the pool and the view and ate all of our meals out there too under the shaded roof.
Tu Mac itself has a wonderful "Jamaica cottage" atmosphere. There are huge Caribbean yarn murals, done by the owner, in the living room and master bedroom. Each bedroom is large, and all of the bathrooms have plenty of room to maneuver, not to mention, loads of counter space to spread out all of your travel necessities.
The furniture in the living room is comfy, with a wonderful sofa to lie down on while reading your favorite book, or for a little afternoon snooze. And, you have a beautiful view of the sea from anyplace you care to sit.
This house has no TV and it was never missed, as we spent evenings perusing it's extensive library or playing one of the many games that was provided.
We definitely look forward to returning to tumac.
