Jamaica Wins with Canadian Agents 2010
The Jamaica Tourist Board has been voted as the Favourite Tourist Board in the Canadian Travel Press and Travel Courier's 11th annual Agents' Choice Awards for the fifth consecutive year.
Jamaica was also voted Favourite Honeymoon Destination for the second time in a row, ahead of Mexico.
Commenting on the honour, John Lynch, Director of Tourism and Chairman of the JTB said, "It is wonderful for our travel partners to bestow on us these awards again. We appreciate the kind vote of confidence which is a reflection of the strength of the partnership we have developed over the years. We will continue to work hard to help them sell Jamaica to Canadians."
The JTB's Canadian office has spent significant time visiting and collaborating with as many agents as possible. The team has also facilitated numerous familiarization trips for agents, participated in conventions and shows (including numerous bridal shows) and increased the frequency of their agents' update, Island Vibrations, to quarterly on-line publication.
Jamaica continues to be one of the favourite vacation destinations for the people in Canada. According to the latest figures, over 130,000 Canadians visited Jamaica during the 2009/10 winter tourist season, reflecting an increase of some 11 per cent over the same period the previous year.
