Wilderness Resort, Goshen

Fishing Fun in Well-Stocked Ponds, ATVs, Horseback Riding Tours and more....

The Wilderness Resorts is a 477 acre property with 37 fish ponds, nestled in the hills above Ocho Rios at an altitude of some 1000 feet. It's about a 45 minute drive from the resort town, traveling through the White River gorge and the villages of Cascade and Labyrinth. The roads are narrow and snake up the hill with a sheer drop to the White River for much of the journey. Beautiful scenery. Apart from pond fishing, the Wilderness Resorts brochure lists guided ATV tours, horseback riding, hiking on nature trails, kayaking and paddle-boating.

In August 2002, we (Chadeesingh Family with staff from Endless Summer) returned to Goshen for a day of fishing and a picnic. The children all wanted to do this as they had really enjoyed a bit of fishing at Cranbrook Flower Forest in 2001. They were not disappointed at Wilderness Resorts. Everyone was having so much fun, even our driver grabbed a pole and got into the act.

Asha adopts a professional stance with her bamboo pole. Hats are definitely recommended. At last, Lal hooked a tilapia.

The ponds were well-stocked with tilapia and a guide assisted us with baiting the hooks. We had our fish cooked there for our lunch. It was really good, and we were able to sample the various recipes- fried, jerked, and steamed.
