This was our 2nd stay at Saltash and 3rd time at Silversands. The location of Saltash and the ladies of the house, Elaine and Aldith, are the real selling features of Saltash. They once again took amazing care of us and really feel like family. Saltash could use some maintenance. The kitchen needs upgrading and a vacuum cleaner would definitely make it easier to keep clean. The living room furniture is over-sized and uncomfortable and in need of replacement. Too much furniture made the villa feel small. 1 sectional would be much better utilized than 3 sofas. As well, a dining room table that seats 6 would be appreciated, as the existing table was tight with 5. The villa sleeps 6, so why not have a table that seats 6? Silversands itself is incomparable. We took a day trip to Negril to see what all the hype is about and can honestly say it doesn't hold a candle to Silversands and Fisherman's beach. What is lacking at Silversands is evening entertainment. It gets dark quite early and with everyone huddled in their own villa, there really isn't much to do. There was a Welcome Party 1 night and a karaoke night. The karaoke night was fun and better attended than the Welcome Party. I think what could have made the Welcome Party more successful was in addition to some fun games, just play music that is popular with the guests, not just with the hosts. It did appear that the party was put on more for the hosts than the guests in the choice of music and dance. Dancehall music isn't really popular with the guests and no one wants to see raunchy dancehall dance moves, especially given that there are families there with young children. That part of the evening was inappropriate and many people left the party at this point. We also missed having a store on premises. In the past, it was very convenient having the store there for little incidentals you may have forgotten at home or just an ice cream treat or a bottle of wine. We would really love to see this space filled again. Having said all this, our family enjoyed our stay immensely and would love to return soon.

We were blessed with the best housekeeper and cook that we could have hoped for!! Aldith and Elaine provided every comfort and the most wonderful Jamaican meals. Loved Angelique at the bar and grill as well - make sure she makes your drinks! The beach is a bit small - not long if you're a walker, but clean and pretty. Snorkeling was just ok. If you go out to eat - try Bayritz in Discovery Bay - excellent menu/food, oceanfront view and very clean! My only complaint for Silver Sands: We asked the front desk management to recommend a seafood restaurant and they recommended Lyndsey's because they will pick you up. We thought - what a great deal! Don't go! Poor food, service, location, hygiene - and you're stuck because the driver owns the restaurant! Mr. Lyndsey must know someone at SS! Do your own research online as we did with Bayritz. Otherwise Saltash Villa was certainly worth the $$ and a vacation spot we'll never forget. (Thanks Aldith and Elaine!)

Elaine and Aldith really made our stay super comfortable. They were a great source of information as well. We loved eating local dishes prepared with locally sourced food. This is our 4th time visiting Silver Sands and 1st time in Saltash. One recommendation I have is to install a dryer. It rained 5 of the 7 days we were there so hanging up the wash outside to dry was not an option. A dryer would have been useful. Overall, this was a great vacation for our family.
