ms reported that they had only lukewarm water for showers (something needs to be done about the water temperature for these). Bathrooms also needed hanging shower caddies for toiletries (it is inconvenient to shower without soap and shampoo within easy reach). Also, the kitchen was small and hot.

Our cook Viviene and housekeeper Bev were helpful throughout our stay. Viviene is an exceptional cook, creating very flavorful and delicious island dishes! We asked her to prepare meals for the first two days of our stay, until we could go grocery shopping. We left a very specific list of food items and specified it was food for only for two days. However, she spent over $400 US on our grocery account before we even got there (that was unacceptable). She cooked 3-4 times the amount needed for two days for our party, so we ended up having to eat the same items several times to prevent waste. We asked her repeatedly not to order more food without our approval but this was a very frustrating continuing issue, which resulted in a much larger food bill than anticipated. This problem (which we have had at some other villas too) is making us reconsider coming back next year.

Throughout the Silver Sands property, the grounds were well-maintained. It was sad to see evidence of hurricane damage to trees and homes, though most were repaired or in progress. The tennis court was in a sorry state! There was a lot of seaweed heaped on the beach when we arrived, which was off-putting, resulting in fewer beach trips. By the end of our trip, most had been cleared and the beach was lovely once more. Security staff were helpful when we were accidentally locked out of the villa, calling management/villa staff to come and open up for us, but we suggest that a Blue Vista house key be left with security at the gate (as with other villas).
